84,000 Units of Mislabeled Mean Green Cleanser Recalled

CR Brands, Inc. is recalling Mean Green® Super Strength Cleaner & Degreaser and Mean Green® Industrial Strength Cleaner & Degreaser because their label states "Does not contain Ammonia," but the product may contain it.

CR Brands, Inc. of West Chester, Ohio, has recalled about 83,800 units of Mean Green® Super Strength Cleaner & Degreaser and Mean Green® Industrial Strength Cleaner & Degreaser because their label states "Does not contain Ammonia," but the product may contain it, according to a Jan. 21 recall notice posted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

This poses a chemical hazard because mixing ammonia with bleach will create toxic gases called chloramines, and mixing it with other household chemicals also can produce hazardous gases.

The recalled products are in white plastic spray bottles and white or green plastic containers. The words "Mean Green Super Strength Cleaner & Degreaser" or "Mean Green Industrial Strength Cleaner & Degreaser" are on a label on the front, and the UPC number is on the back. The recall involves products with date codes 4225, 4226, 4227, 4228, 4229 and 4230. The date code is printed on the back of the bottle near the QR code.

Consumers possessing one of these products should stop using it immediately and return it to the retailer for a replacement. They can call CR Brands toll free at 866-447-3369 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET weekdays or visit www.crbrandsinc.com and click on Safety Letters for more information.

No injuries related to the mislabeled products have been reported, according to the CPSC notice. They were sold at Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Fred's, Walmart, and small retailers nationwide from August 2014 to November 2014 for between $1 and $8.
