Tire, Rubber Manufacturers Participating in NTSB's Tire Safety Symposium

The board has posted the agenda for the Dec. 9-10 event, which will be webcast live.

The National Transportation Safety Board has posted the final agenda for its Dec. 9-10 Passenger Vehicle Tire Safety Symposium, which is taking place at NTSB's Washington, D.C., headquarters. Participants from several tire manufacturers and the Rubber Manufacturers Association are scheduled to take part in the symposium, which will be webcast live.

NTSB Member Earl Weener is chairing the symposium. Six panels are listed on the agenda, ranging from one about identifying and analyzing crashes related to tire disablement to tire aging and service life, tire maintenance and consumer awareness, and tire registration and recalls.

The listed panel participants include: Jack Chern, Ph.D., safety compliance engineer with NHTSA's Office of Vehicle Safety Compliance; Tracey Norberg, general counsel and senior vice president of regulatory affairs for the Rubber Manufacturers Association; George Soodoo, chief of NHTSA's Vehicle Dynamics Division; Russell Shepherd, director of competitor analysis at Michelin North America; Jim Euchner, Goodyear's vice president for global innovation; David Johnson, Bridgestone Americas' executive director of sales engineering; Kevin Rohlwing, the Tire Industry Association's senior vice president of training; Eugene Petersen, Consumer Reports’ tire program manager; and Jay Spears, director of standards and regulations for Continental Tire The Americas.
