BCSP Agreement Waives ASP Exam for Indian Diploma Holders

Signed Sept. 26, it will allow holders of the Government of India's Diploma in Industrial Safety Agreement to take the CSP exam without having to take the Associate Safety Professional exam.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals announced Oct. 1 that it has completed an evaluation of the Government of India's Diploma in Industrial Safety and found that those who hold the diploma qualify for the Certified Safety Professional examination by waiver of the Associate Safety Professional.

BSCP's announcement said the Diploma in Industrial Safety is offered by the Government of India Ministry of Labour & Employment's Regional Labour Institutes in Chennai, Faridabad, Kanpur, and Kolkata and the Central Labor Institute in Mumbai. BCSP evaluated its equivalency against the ASP's requirements and noted similarities in the processes and standards used by BCSP and those institutes.

"Safety is valued by people around the world," said BCSP Board of Directors President Dr. Lon Ferguson, CSP, who signed the waiver document. "This agreement promises to strengthen the protection of people, property, and environment."

"BCSP is committed to working alongside organizations that share our vision, and we look forward to further collaboration in India and elsewhere," said BCSP CEO Dr. Treasa Turnbeaugh, CSP, CET.
