ASPPH Celebrating First Anniversary
The Association of Schools & Programs of Public Health launched a year ago and will hold its first stand-alone meeting next March in Arlington, Va.
The Association of Schools & Programs of Public Health is celebrating its first anniversary as an organization and reminding member schools of its accomplishments during the past year and its plans for the future.
Membership has grown to 94 member schools and programs. ASPPH has developed a new website, www.aspph.org, with content and design tailored to better serve public health students, educators, and practitioners. ASPPH also began its ASPPH Presents monthly webinar series in spring 2014. Featured topics included "Policy and Advocacy in Support of Academic Public Health Education, Research, and Practice"; "NIH Strategic Plan for Disease Prevention: Planning for the Next Five Years"; and "Diversity as a Vital Component of Health Systems Change." The series will resume this September.
ASPPH hosted the first "This Is Public Health Student Recruitment Fair" on April 29 in San Diego, hosted the second recruitment fair on July 15 at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health in Washington, D.C., and has four fairs planned for this fall.
The association will no longer hold its annual meeting in conjunction with the APHA annual meeting. Instead, the first stand-alone ASPPH annual meeting will take place March 22-25, 2015, in Arlington, Va.
