The striking Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, spans the Trinity River and connects downtown Dallas with West Dallas.

Safety 2015 Bound for Dallas

The city's downtown has much more to offer visitors than the Sixth Floor Museum.

Dallas' downtown is becoming a walkable, livable place. When ASSE's Safety 2015 conference begins next June 7 inside The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, attendees who haven't visited the city in years, or perhaps never have, will discover a pair of new downtown parks have opened and the Victory Park area extending south from the American Airlines Center is filling with condominium towers. And Dallas finally has a convention center hotel, the Omni Hotel Dallas.

The parks are the Klyde Warren Park, an urban oasis located in the Arts District, and the brand-new Continental Bridge park that flanks the eye-catching Margaret Hunt Hill bridge linking downtown Dallas to West Dallas. Both park and bridge span the Trinity River.

Safety 2015, the 54th annual American Society of Safety Engineers' Professional Development Conference, will take place June 7-10, with its expo set for June 7-9. Details and an exhibitor prospectus already are available at www.safety2015.org.

The prospectus says more attendees have come to ASSE's annual conferences from Texas during the past five years than from any other state, regardless of where the conference was held. That bodes well for the city's convention bureau, restaurants, and hotels, as well as the Safety 2015 exhibitors –- especially the many exhibitors that provide products and services to the oil and gas industry.
