The December 2013/January 2014 issue of Oregon OSHA's "Resource," now posted on the agency's website, includes a lot of very useful information about safety during winter and during the holiday season. Two Oregon employers' safety programs are profiled in it, including that of Corvallis-based Holiday Tree Farms Inc. (page 4), where of course the workers are busiest as the holiday approaches.

The safety program of Key Knife, a Tualatin-based manufacturer of blades used in sawmills, pulp mills, and particleboard plants, and its safety coordinator, Shawna Bergeron, also are profiled in this issue (page 18).

OR-OSHA Administrator Michael Wood has contributed an excellent column explaining the hierarchy of controls (page 3), and the issue's technical note (page 17) concerns the OR-OSHA rules for users of scissor lifts to prevent pinch point injuries.
