Metal Hatch Manufacturer Cited for Serious Safety Violations

OSHA issued the violations and fines totaling $56,000 to EJ USA.

OSHA has cited EJ USA Inc., a metal hatch manufacturer, assessing 13 violations with a total of $56,000 in fines. The inspection, which began in March, comes as part of the agency's Site Specific Targeting Program aimed at directing enforcement resources to workplaces with the highest amount of injuries and illnesses.

The manufacturing company, according to OSHA, has several violations, which include failure to institute a hearing protection program, failure to prevent overexposure to metal fumes, failure to provide handrails on stairs, failure to cover containers of flammable liquids, failure to keep ignition sources away from flammable liquids, failure to maintain the airflow indicator on a spray booth, and more.

According to OSHA, if the company fails to correct these violations, employees could be at risk for burns, electric shock, hearing loss, falls, and more.
