'Iron Man Suit' Sought by Special Operations Command
If it can be accomplished, it would provide ballistic protection and fire-retardant capability, according to the Army News Service's David Vergun.
Sometimes movies aren't so far-fetched. The U.S. Special Operations Command is seeking proposals for the Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit, TALOS, described by the Army News Service's David Vergun as an "Iron Man suit."
His Oct. 18 article quoted Michel Fieldson, TALOS lead, as saying the concept is to integrate a variety of technologies into a suit that would provide both ballistic protection and fire-retardant capability, for possible use by the U.S. Special Operations Command and also some wounded soldiers with lower-leg injuries.
Homeland Security and firefighters also are interested, according to Vergun's article.
