Cintas, Carhartt Looking for North America's Toughest Cold Weather Workers

This year's edition is the third annual Cold Crew Contest by the companies.

The third annual Cintas & Carhartt Cold Crew Contest is now under way. The companies are taking entries until Feb. 28, 2014, saying they "want to see how you 'Outwork Them AllTM.' "

Cincinnati-based Cintas launched the campaign in 2011 to recognize workers in the United States and Canada who withstand the toughest winter working conditions. Contestants explain why apparel from Carhartt (Dearborn, Mich.) is essential to their jobs at http://www.cintas.com/carharttcoldcrew for a chance to win free merchandise and a grand prize trip for two. Cintas and Carhartt will select finalists and begin public voting at the contest website.

Last year's contest attracted hundreds of entries, and nine were chosen as finalists. The voters made James Tatem, an arborist foreman from Hooksett, N.H., the grand prize winner. He won a trip for two to the CMA Music Festival in Nashville.

The winner of the first annual contest was Brooke Boyer, a wastewater treatment plant supervisor from Mt. Shasta, Calif.
