Kentucky State Police Hosting Motorcycle Safety Awareness Day

The July 26 event is scheduled to take place at the agency’s headquarters in Frankfort.

The Kentucky State Police will host their 6th Annual Motorcycle Safety Awareness Day on Friday, July 26, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The agency is inviting the public to attend, riding their motorcycles to it, and then enjoy door prize drawings, a cookout lunch, a raffle, a safety presentation, and a ride escorted by police. A safety-related news conference also is part of the event.

NHTSA reported in December 2012 that motorcycle fatalities nationwide in 2011 had increased by 2.1 percent from the prior year, even though motor vehicle fatalities overall had declined by 1.9 percent year over year. The nationwide motorcycle fatality number was 4,518 for 2010 and 4,612 for 2011, according to its report.

The rain make-up date for the KSP event is Aug. 2.
