Ohio Bus Ordered to Cease Unauthorized Interstate Commerce
Destiny Tours, in Toledo, Ohio failed to gain the proper federal permission to carry out interstate business.
An Ohio bus company has been ordered to cease interstate operations following the discovery that the company failed to obtain operating authority from the federal government. Destiny Tours, a tour bus company based in Toledo, Ohio, was investigated for its interstate operations.
“We are going to continue to use every tool we have to ensure bus companies comply with federal regulations,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, in a department release. “Bus companies that attempt to dodge safety regulations by not properly registering have no place on our nation’s roadways.”
The Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration found that Destiny Tours crossed state lines for unauthorized commercial purposes.
"FMCSA regulations exist for one reason: to protect the traveling public,” said FMCSA Administrator Anne S. Ferro, on the DOT website. “Company owners are required to know the safety regulations. If they willfully fail to adhere, they will be shut down on the spot.”
