The meeting will take place March 6 in Washington, D.C. Registrations to participate or attend it must be made by Feb. 22.
OSHA announced it will hold a three-hour stakeholder meeting about its Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) program on March 6 in Washington, D.C. Registrations to participate or attend it must be made by Feb. 22 and can be accomplished by emailing Lisa Saylor Gentry, [email protected], with "NRTL March 6, 2013, Stakeholder Meeting Registration" in the subject line or faxing it to her at 202-693-1644.
NRTLs are independent laboratories important to end users. OSHA's safety standards requires that they test and certify 38 types of products as safe for occupational use. NTRLs authorize manufacturers of the products to use their certification marks as a sign the products are tested and certified, and the labs must meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.7 and the NRTL Program Directive.
The meeting allows stakeholders to comment on NRTL program policies, procedures, and guidelines to improve the quality of services provided by OSHA to these labs. There also may be changes coming to the NRTL application process and the process for renewals, according to the OSHA meeting notice.
Currently approved NRTLs include Underwriters Laboratories, NSF International, FM Approvals LLC, the Canadian Standards Association, the Southwest Research Institute, and several other organizations.
