MSA Joins Fit-Friendly Worksites Program

More than 1,800 companies thus far have been recognized by the American Heart Association for creating a corporate culture of health and wellness.

MSA announced Dec. 6 that its Pittsburgh-area facilities have been recognized as Platinum Level Fit-Friendly Worksites by the American Heart Association. This means the PPE manufacturer has demonstrated outstanding achievement in promoting good nutrition and physical fitness for its approximately 1,300 local employees. The Platinum Level is the highest honor in the AHA Fit-Friendly Worksites program.

MSA's announcement said the company's wellness program, MSAFit, deserves much of the credit for this achievement. Launched in 2003, the program encouraging a healthy lifestyle through incentives to employees who participate in health-related activities including health screenings, lunchtime awareness classes, health-risk assessments, and walking programs. Recently added to it were nutritional suggestions and healthy eating options at MSA's Cranberry Township, Pa., facilities, and these will be added in 2013 at other locations in the Pittsburgh area.
