Scott Safety Opens Abu Dhabi Facility

The subsidiary of Tyco International is also celebrating 80 years of operation and its role in helping to safeguard industrial, military, and fire service customers around the world.

Scott Safety, a Monroe, N.C.-based manufacturer of respiratory protection, gas detection, and other PPE equipment, announced it has opened a new training, servicing, and assembly facility in Abu Dhabi to support its growing customer base in the Middle East, including first responders and emergency service professionals in the oil and gas industry there.

The company is a subsidiary of Tyco International and is celebrating 80 years in operation as a manufacturer of fire protection and detection equipment for industrial, military, and fire service customres around the world. "The solutions we produce reflect the leading edge of protection technology, and that's because the men and women using Scott equipment aren't truly ready to respond using anything less than the best and most reliable gear available," said Mike Ryan, vice president and general manager of Scott Safety.

The new Abu Dhabi facility is based in the Industrial City and opened Oct. 10, with staffers assembling products including SCBAs, escape sets, airline breathing apparatus, portable and fixed gas detection, and hearing and head protection. Staffers will provide service and warranty support. The office also supports a regional sales team. Scott Safety's announcement said the new building includes a training facility for demonstrations and product training.

"Safety and safer emergency response in the workplace is where the company started; it is still our first and last priority in every product development initiative, every product presentation, and every training program," said Tina Deatherage, global marketing communications manager. "The new facility lets us focus on that priority -— working with customers on their specific needs and requirements while improving overall customer safety preparedness in the Middle East petroleum, oil, and gas production environment in the process."
