For the first time in its history, OSHA has recognized a Level 1 trauma center in the United States for having exemplary healthy and safe work environment.

University Medial Center Brackenridge in Austin, Texas, has received this honor, making it the first of its kind to received merit status, the second-highest accolade in OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program.

While other hospitals in the nation have reached this level of honor, this is the first facility equipped to handle Level 1 trauma scenarios.
