Brush Up on Your French for AIHce 2013
Montreal is the destination and May 18-23 are the dates of next year's American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo.
INDIANAPOLIS –- One of North America's most popular tourist destinations, Montreal, is the site for AIHce 2013. Next year's American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo is taking place May 18-23, or 11 months from now. The conference will take place at the Palais des congress de Montreal.
Provincial and city leaders already are setting budgets and laying plans for Montreal's 375th birthday celebrations in 2017. The bilingual city features a sparkling waterfront and beaches, festivals throughout the year, charming neighborhoods, a popular historic district, and much more. Some of its most-visited attractions are featured in a two-minute Tourisme Montreal film, and the bureau's blog is another good information source about activities in the city. Montreal-Pierre Trudeau International Airport is only 20 minutes' drive from downtown.
The Montreal region attracted 7.8 million tourists in 2011, according to the tourism bureau. It lists the population of Greater Montreal as approximately 3.6 million, with 53 percent of the inhabitants speaking French and English and 20 percent using a third language (in addition to French and English).
AIHA said 5,000 industry professionals attended AIHce 2012 in Indianapolis, which marked the end of the one-year AIHA presidency of Elizabeth Pullen. The new president, Allan Fleeger, will serve through AIHce 2013.
AIHA co-sponsors the conference with ACGIH, and they already have issued the call for presentations at AIHce 2013. Proposals for Professional Development Courses taking place May 18-19, 2013, may be submitted until Aug. 15 at www.aiha.org/callforpdcs, and proposed technical presentations (to take place May 20-23, 2013) may be submitted from July 15 until Sept. 28 at www.aiha.org/callfortechpresentations.
