NFPA Broadcasting Opening Session Live
Award presentations and reports by President James M. Shannon are highlights of the June 11 session in Las Vegas.
NFPA's 2012 Conference & Expo opens on Monday at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Convention Center, and for the first time, the association is offering a live broadcast of that day's opening general session beginning at 4 p.m. EST. The session will be broadcast at NFPA's Conference & Expo blog, which is already featuring news and announcements and will cover the conference throughout its run.
It will feature a welcome by Chair Thomas W. Jaeger, P.E.; the President's Report by James M. Shannon; the Nominating Committee Report by Peter McMahon; and awards. These include the Industrial Fire Protection Section's Best Fire Prevention Week Program Award, the 2012 Life Safety Educator of the Year Award, the Fire Protection Research Foundation Medal, and the Standards Medal.
NFPA's product innovation team are demonstrating new products June 10-12 at NFPA's booth 353, including e-books of some codes and mobile apps for NEC 2008, the NFPA 10 and NFPA 1600 standards' 2010 editions, NFPA 70E Changes' 2012 edition, and the beta test version of NFPA 70E – 2012.
A drawing will be held at the booth to award a Kindle Fire bundle.
Many of the biggest names in fire gear and fire safety products are exhibiting in the expo, including Tyco, UTC, Scott Safety, Honeywell, Kidde, MSA, UL, Siemens, and the U.S. Fire Administration.
