New Editor-in-Chief Appointed for Journal Hypertension

Dr. Anna F. Dominiczak, Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Glasgow, will begin with the January 2012 issue of the AHA journal.

Anna F. Dominiczak, M.D., has been named editor-in-chief of Hypertension: Journal of the American Heart Association and will begin her tenure with the January 2012 issue of the journal, which is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health. Dominiczak is Regius Professor of Medicine and vice principal and head of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow.

"It is a great honor to assume editorial duties for this important publication," she said in the AHA news release announcing her appointment. "Our goal will be to solidify Hypertension's position as the leading journal for all professionals interested in understanding the pathophysiology, diagnosis, management, and impact of high blood pressure, both in the clinic and at the population level."

She is the first editor of an AHA journal to be located in Europe. AHA said she "has a strong history of leadership in hypertension research, with a special interest in genetic factors affecting hypertension risk. Her qualifications include years of editorial experience at several journals, including a term as Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Science. She has also played active roles in various American Heart Association Committees, including the Leadership Committee."

Dominiczak has worked at the University of Glasgow since 1992.

The journal's website, http://hyper.ahajournals.org/, recently was redesigned. Subscribers and readers have access to an expanded online archive, including the complete history of the journal from 1979 to the present.
