Cintas Site Joins OR-OSHA's SHARP Ranks

A 27-employee site in Eugene is the newest member of Oregon OSHA's Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program, the agency announced last week.

Oregon OSHA announced last week that Cintas Corporation of Eugene is the latest employer to join the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP), which encourages employers in the state to work with employees to find and fix hazards, develop and implement effective safety and health programs, and continuously improve. About 70 work sites in Oregon participate in SHARP and more than 90 have graduated from the program.

The Eugene location of Cincinnati-based Cintas has 27 employees who provide uniform rental, facility services, and bathroom/kitchen sanitation services to customers. "The SHARP program has strengthened relationships among our employees and customers," said Tim Kidd, Cintas branch manager in Eugene. "I am very proud of the safety culture we have cultivated. We believe safety is a responsibility that extends to all partners, regardless of their position."

SHARP members are not exempt from regulatory enforcement but do have a limited exemption from programmed inspections. Employees retain all workplace safety and health rights contained in the Oregon Safe Employment Act. Sites that have been in business for more than a year are eligible to apply.
