Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation to Host Health Care Innovation Symposium

The Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation will host "Transform," a collaborative symposium on innovations in health care experience and delivery, Sept. 13–15.

Transform will feature nationally recognized speakers discussing topics focused on innovation methodology and innovations in health care delivery models, including Web-based tools. The Center for Innovation work builds on a century of Mayo Clinic's experience implementing innovative ways to deliver better health care experiences to patients.

The symposium will feature more than 20 presenters, including keynote speaker Clayton Christensen, D.B.A., professor at Harvard Business School and author of the best-selling book "Innovator's Prescription." Other speakers include:

  • Frank Moss, head of the MIT Media Lab's New Media Medicine research group, which focuses on developing radical new collaborations among doctors, patients, and communities to catalyze a revolution in health care.
  • Lois Quam, the founder and CEO of Tysvar LLC, a newly created, privately held, Minnesota-based business incubator that develops start-ups in health care and clean energy.
  • Indu Subaiya, M.D., co-founder of Health 2.0: User Generated Healthcare, a forum showcasing emerging companies in vertical search, social networking applications, and Web-based tools for consumer health care.
  • Roy Schoenberg, M.D., inventor of the American Well™ concept. Schoenberg directs American Well Systems' product development as well as its Operations divisions.
  • Amy Tendrich, founder of DiabetesMine.com, one of the best-read diabetes blogs in the country. The blog ranks in the Top 10 of the World's Top Blogs in Health & Medicine on the HealthCare100 Index.
  • Elizabeth Teisberg, co-author of the book "Redefining Health Care: Creating Value-Based Competition on Results." Teisberg speaks nationally and internationally on health care strategy and policy.
