Alaska Occupational Safety Summit Set for Sept. 22-23
The American Society of Safety Engineers Alaska Chapter and the American Industrial Hygiene Association's Midnight Sun Chapter, will host the 4th annual Alaska Occupational Safety Summit professional development conference on Sept. 22-23. The event will take place both days from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Hotel Captain Cook, 939 W. 5th Ave., in Anchorage. The conference's theme this year is "Safety in Challenging Times."
The event will offer sessions on occupational safety and health management, OSHA compliance, risk reduction, crisis communication, environmental safety, hazards associated with stress-induced sleep deprivation and fatigue on the job, and more. Keynote speaker Jimmy Cabrera, a National Speakers Associations certified professional speaker, will discuss "Delivering Results through Peak Performance." ASSE and AIHA note that as an in-state occupational safety conference, the summit offers Alaska residents access to local professional development and networking opportunities.
The ASSE Alaska Chapter, chartered on Sept. 20, 1974, has more than 170 members throughout Alaska as well as an active student section at the University of Alaska.
