OSHA, Allies Promote Safety at Georgia Construction Career Expo
OSHA area offices in Georgia began their fifth annual young worker safety awareness campaign yesterday at the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia Construction Career Expo, held at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, Ga. More than 5,000 Georgia high school, middle school, and technical college students are expected to attend through today.
They're going to learn about careers in construction and related fields and to visit exhibits featuring machinery, tools, career options, and skills needed in that field. OSHA said attendees are required to treat the expo like a construction site, wearing a hard hat, safety glasses, long pants, and closed-toe shoes.
The event includes a "World of Green" building and the SkillsUSA Georgia State Championships today. The Georgia Local Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the American Society of Safety Engineers' Georgia Chapter, and the Georgia Tech Research Institute's Occupational Safety and Health Division are taking part.
