Raleigh, N.C. Health Management Firm Receives '08 Eagle Award
KDI Health Solutions (Raleigh, N.C.), a provider of community-based preventive health care and chronic disease management programs throughout the Carolinas, is the recipient of the 2008 Eagle Award presented by the North Carolina Alliance for Healthy Communities. NCAHC says the award, which is given to an individual or organization that has positively impacted health care in communities throughout North Carolina, went to KDI for its Doctor of Pharmacy employer program, designed to improve workplace productivity and reduce health care costs by providing a menu of worksite-based preventive and chronic care services.
"Our effort is to improve access to quality clinical pharmacist services by infusing them into the community," said KDI President Rebecca Chater. "Our approach to integrating the community pharmacist as an active member of the health care team has produced very positive clinical and economic outcomes."
KDI services include flu, shingles, and pneumonia immunizations; health screenings and fairs; disease education programs; and personalized counseling on medicine use and behavior modification. Its network of PharmD, residency-trained pharmacists provides new health care service options to thousands of employer groups and physician practices in the Carolinas. In addition to working with employer groups, KDI also partners with medical practices to help physicians provide more patient care in less time with better outcomes. In addition to the '08 Eagle Award, the company was named the 2008 North Carolina American Diabetes Association Provider of the Year for its approach to diabetes treatment and medication therapy management.
