ASSE Accepting Applications for 9/11 Memorial Scholarships
Applications are due by Dec. 1 for the 2009 awarding of two American Society of Safety Engineers $1,000 scholarships that honor members who died seven years ago today in the destruction of the World Trade Center. The two are the America Responds Memorial Scholarship and the Harry Taback 9/11 Memorial Scholarship, which was established by three daughters of Taback, who was a Staten Island, N.Y. resident and executive vice president with Marsh and McLennan at the time of his death.
Both are awarded annually. The America Responds scholarship goes to an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in occupational safety & health or a closely related field. The Taback scholarship is available to an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in occupational safety & health or a closely related field.
The 2008 recipient of the America Responds scholarship is Ryan Kiley, an undergraduate at Millersville University. Megan Karie, an undergraduate at Oakland University, is the Taback recipient this year.
