Live from Safety 2008: ASSE Sets Another Attendance Record
On only the second official day of Safety 2008—the American Society of Safety Engineers’ Professional Development Conference and Exposition happening this week in Las Vegas—the society has announced it has broken records for both turnout and square footage sold. A total of 36 countries are represented among the more than 4,000 OSH&E professionals and business representatives attending what is now being hailed as ASSE’s largest-ever annual event.
”This not only shows how committed occupational safety, health and environmental practitioners are to fostering and developing their profession, but the quality and high level of information being presented here for attendees along with the invaluable networking among peers,” said ASSE President Michael W. Thompson, CSP.
With more than 60,000 square feet of exhibit space sold, the event is providing a platform for more than 400 organizations including Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies, non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association, universities, colleges, and more, ASSE says.
The conference is featuring more than 200 educational sessions, key speakers, safety issue roundtables, and updates from the country’s top occupational safety and health officials, including OSHA head Edwin G. Foulke Jr. and NIOSH Director Dr. John Howard. In addition, 40 pre- and post-conference seminars on a wide range of technical and managerial topics are being offered, for which attendees can earn additional CEUs/COCs, CM points, and CMPs.
