Ceremony to Recognize MNOSHA's 30th SHARP Site

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry will recognize Worldwide Dispensers of Lester Prairie, Minn., on Sept. 11 for becoming the 30th Minnesota Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (MNSHARP) site. Worldwide Dispensers is part of the Plastics Division of DS Smith, Plc, which manufactures plastic taps, faucets, and related dispensing products.

DLI Commissioner Steve Sviggum is scheduled to present the award. "We congratulate Worldwide Dispensers for achieving this status as one of the state's best in safety and health," Sviggum said Sept. 6. "Its employees and management are to be commended for their joint efforts to ensure more employees return home safe and healthy each day."

The site gets an MNSHARP flag and a certificate that exempts it from OSHA compliance scheduled inspections for one year. MNSHARP began in 1996; it requires a comprehensive safety and health program that includes management leadership, employee involvement, control of workplace hazards, and a plan for employee safety training and education. "The health and safety of our employees is paramount and we continually strive to create a safe working environment at Worldwide Dispensers," said Jerre Kachmar, Worldwide Dispensers' president. "The MNSHARP program provides us with additional resources to achieve this goal. These resources, as well as the recognition provided by MNOSHA, will serve to reinforce our future efforts to provide for the well being of all our employees."
