Detroit Chemical Distributor Wins Vanguard Award

The Chemical Educational Foundation will present its Vanguard Award on May 14 to Richard Peacock, president of PVS-Nolwood Chemicals, Inc., based in Detroit, for leadership, community service, and educational work on behalf of the chemical industry.

The ceremony will take place in Washington, D.C. CEF has presented the award for more than 10 years to a deserving individual. The foundation's mission is to foster a greater understanding of chemistry, the benefits of chemicals, and the importance of chemical safety awareness.

PVS-Nolwood has promoted chemistry education in the Detroit area, according to CEF, which said the company's outreach includes aiding in the development of achievement programs in local schools, adopting an inner-city elementary school, and implementation of CEF's You Be The Chemist Challenge.
