The U.S. Department of Labor has reached a settlement agreement with Adidas America Inc., requiring the company to pay $235,000 in penalties and implement significant safety improvements at multiple facilities following repeated workplace violations.
The agreement stems from a 2024 follow-up inspection conducted by OSHA at an Adidas warehouse in upstate New York. Inspectors found that the company had failed to correct hazards originally cited in 2021, including missing guardrails and the use of an unsafe ladder. The 2024 inspection also uncovered a new ladder-related violation.
Under the terms of the settlement, Adidas will adopt enhanced abatement measures at its facilities in New York, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico. These measures include implementing a comprehensive safety and health management program, retraining employees on fall hazards, conducting site-wide audits for potential fall risks, and eliminating overhead storage areas in the affected facilities.
“This settlement underscores the importance of employers taking prompt and lasting action to eliminate known hazards,” OSHA officials said in a statement.
Adidas America Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of Adidas AG, the global athletic apparel and footwear company headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany.
