The 2020 Impact on Worker Safety

While there seems to be a light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel, we may see the impact of the pandemic on worker safety for months, or years, to come. In this episode, editor Sydny Shepard dives into the physical and mental effects of the pandemic on workers.

I know that we have talked a lot about the year of 2020 and the pandemic that stopped the movement of the world for over a year. However, now that we have begun to see the positive effects of effective vaccines, the decrease of COVID-19 hospitalizations and a resurgence of activities that are deemed pre-pandemic “normal,” it is important to take a pause to discuss how the events of last year can, and will have, an impact on worker safety moving forward.

In this episode, we will talk about a few studies that have recently come out regarding the physical and mental wellbeing of American workers in both office and industrial settings. Listen to the results of these studies with your workers in mind. Understand how the stress, physical pain and isolation of the last year could affect their performance. Be genuine in your conversations with workers and thoughtful about the programs you wish to introduce in the next few months to improve worker safety.
