NSC Honors Road, Community, and Workplace Safety Achievers

INDIANAPOLIS -- The National Safety Council hosted its National Awards Celebration here this week, recognizing individuals and organizations for helping make the roads, communities, and workplaces safer. This is an annual event at the NSC Congress & Expo, the largest U.S. annual gathering of safety and health professionals.

The council recognized several categories of honorees:

  • 2017 Distinguished Service to Safety Award Honorees, who were recognized for exemplary lifetime efforts in improving safety and health by an individual.
  • 2017 Rising Stars of Safety. This award recognizes tomorrow's leaders under age 40 for their commitment to safety, influence on safety culture, and creation of safety initiatives producing measureable outcomes.
  • Occupational Award Winners, who were recognized for collective safety achievements and implementation of effective safety policies and procedures.
  • Safe Driver of the Year & Kaplan Award Winners. These categories recognized professional drivers nominated for their total driving record, including miles and years driven without a preventable crash.
