Ohio Company Fined $64,400 After OSHA Investigation

As part of the Site Specific Targeting Program, Scenic Wood Products was investigated for potential safety hazards.

Scenic Wood Products in Ohio is facing $64,400 worth of fines as the result of a January inspection that uncovered 20 safety violations. The inspection was conducted under OSHA's Site Specific Targeting Program, which focuses on workplaces that have high rates of injury and illness.

The numerous safety violations at the pallet manufacturing plant ranged from inadequate machine guarding to lack of fall protection to fire extinguisher provision failure. The entirety of the violations can be found on the OSHA website.

"Scenic Wood Products has a responsibility to recognize the hazards that exist in its workplace and ensure workers are properly trained in the safe operation and maintenance of required equipment," said Deborah Zubaty, OSHA's area director in Columbus, in a statement on the OSHA website. "Employers are also responsible for ensuring workers are provided with personal protective equipment to guard against known hazards in the workplace."

This January inspection is the fourth since 2011.
