NSC Recognizes Organizations, Individuals for Outstanding Safety Contributions

At the 2025 NSC Safety Congress & Expo in Denver, the National Safety Council honored drivers, students, and employers for excellence in injury prevention and safety culture.

The National Safety Council honored a diverse group of individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to safety during its Awards Recognition session at the 2025 Safety Congress & Expo in Denver.

Joseph M. Kaplan Safe Driver of the Year winners were celebrated for maintaining long records of driving without preventable crashes. Honorees include drivers from the U.S. Postal Service and UPS, as well as others from construction and transportation companies across multiple regions. Among them: Calvin Freeman, Dale Diggs, Edward Coleman, Lynn Boles, Bradley Bieler, Dee Finlinson, Dennis Polk, Jeffrey Larson, John Macrae, Peter Farquhar, Thomas Malen, Terry Teskey, Bradley Van Ruiten, and Tim Jelinger.

The Safety Service Award was given to people whose safety leadership has enhanced their organizations’ safety cultures. Recipients include employees from companies such as the American Bureau of Shipping, Borusan Pipe, C&W Services, Engineered Systems Inc., Hanover County Government, and others.

The Workplace Safety Award recognized employers who demonstrated excellence in creating safer environments for their employees. Dozens of companies—ranging from construction firms and manufacturing plants to energy, environmental, and consulting firms—were recognized. Among them are AECOM, Aluminium Bahrain, Allied Power Group, Borusan Pipe, City of Westminster (Colorado), Honeywell, Stellantis, The Boeing Company, and many others.

Other awards included the Corporate Culture of Safety Award, given to organizations that achieved 50 or more recognitions in NSC’s awards programs this year. Also celebrated were ASC Scholarships for veterans, the Safety for All Scholarship for STEM students pursuing careers in occupational health and safety, and the Rising Stars of Safety Award for professionals aged 40 or under distinguished by their safety advocacy in their organizations.

Collectively, these awards highlight not only sustained performance in safety but also mentorship, education, and cultural influence. As NSC stated, these honorees reflect a “commitment to saving lives and preventing injuries.”
