St. Louis Cold Drawn Marks Five Years of SHARP Safety Excellence with Labor Day Event

Employees, community members, and safety leaders gathered over Labor Day to honor St. Louis Cold Drawn’s commitment to prevention, innovation, and a culture of workplace safety.

St. Louis Cold Drawn, a Nucor Company, hosted a special event over Labor Day weekend to celebrate five years of recognition under Missouri’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP), the Missouri Department of Labor announced.

SHARP honors small businesses with exemplary safety and health programs. St. Louis Cold Drawn earned its designation in 2020 after extensive safety improvements—including enhanced machine guarding, better ergonomics, and stronger hazard communication—helped lower its injury and illness rates below industry averages.

The Labor Day gathering included employees, community members, and safety partners from the Missouri On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program. It served as a celebration of the company’s commitment to a safety-first culture, as well as a platform to reinforce ongoing best practices. The milestone underscores the company’s evolution from traditional safety approaches to a proactive model that prioritizes prevention and worker engagement.

SHARP employers are recognized as models for occupational safety and health, often earning inspection exemptions and gaining opportunities to mentor others through the SHARP Association.
