ASSP’s Safety 2024 Serves up Networking Opportunities

The American Society of Safety Professionals' Safety 2024, Aug. 6-9, offers an array of networking and social events to help safety professionals connect, advance their careers, and experience local culture.

The American Society of Safety Professional’s Safety 2024 is coming up next week, and while the sessions, workshops and expo take center stage, the event offers a broad range of networking and social events designed to help safety professionals connect, exchange ideas, advance their careers and even enjoy a taste of the local culture. 

From social gatherings to career advancement opportunities to demos, here is a rundown of what’s scheduled:

Early Badge Pickup, Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM MT at the Convention Center -- Attendees can pick up their badges on Tuesday to avoid the rush on Wednesday morning, while enjoying a chance to meet fellow attendees, familiarize themselves with the convention center, and join guided tours led by local ASSP volunteer leaders and staff approximately every 30 minutes. Light refreshments, live music, and activities will be available as participants prepare for the conference.

New! Leaders in Safety Tech Demos, Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM MT in Lobby F -- After picking up badges, participants can join short demos showcasing the latest advancements in safety technology. This is an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and stay ahead of the curve in safety innovation. 

Mile-High Mixer - Wednesday Night Social, Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM MT in the Bluebird Ballroom at Colorado Convention Center -- Attendees can unwind from the first day of the conference and meet up with fellow safety professionals. The event will feature local libations, appetizers, and live entertainment that captures the spirit of Denver. Tickets can be purchased for $25 during the registration process, with proceeds supporting the ASSP Foundation Career Development Grant Program, aiding OSH professionals and students.

Career Advancement Center, Open during expo hours at Expo Hall, Booth no. 784 – The center helps attendees connect, collaborate, and cultivate relationships through discussions on leadership, mentorship, lifelong learning, and professional growth. Whether looking for the next career step, exploring higher learning options, or refreshing LinkedIn photos, the center offers something for everyone. Additionally, there will be snack breaks, campfire side chats, and photo opportunities.

Board Walk & Talk: Explore the Convention Center with ASSP’s Board of Directors, Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM MT, Meeting in Lobby F at 3:00 PM – New for the Safety show, attendees have a unique opportunity to stroll through the Convention Center in the company of ASSP's Board of Directors. This event allows for engaging in insightful conversations, asking questions, and gaining valuable perspectives from leaders shaping the future of safety. 

Rise & Shine: Speedy Stroll/Fun Run with ASSP Leaders, Thursday, Aug. 8 at 6:30 AM MT, Meeting at the entrance to the Convention Center by the Blue Bear -- Attendees can start their day with energy and enthusiasm by participating in the Speedy Stroll/Fun Run event, led by ASSP leaders. Whether seasoned runners or those who prefer a leisurely stroll, all are welcome to join this one-mile route around the convention center for a memorable morning of fun, fitness, and camaraderie.

Lunchtime Meetups with ASSP Communities, Dates & times to be announced in the Expo Hall dining area -- During each lunch break of the conference, ASSP common interest groups and practice specialties will host meetups. Attendees can connect with ASSP communities, learn about their programs, and get involved. Bringing lunch to the designated tables provides a great opportunity to make new friends and network.

Key Issue Collaboration Sessions, Aug. 7 - 9 during concurrent session periods, Locations to be referred to in the Safety 2024 app -- Key Issue Collaboration Sessions are roundtable discussions facilitated by volunteers, welcoming all levels of experience. These sessions let safety professionals meet others who are equally curious or passionate about various topics, providing actionable insights and new perspectives.

With those events and opportunities, ASSP's Safety 2024 promises to be an enriching experience for all attendees, fostering professional growth and community connections in the safety industry.
