New Jersey Manufacturer Faces Nearly $257,000 in Proposed OSHA Fines

FB International Inc. specializes in manufacturing trade show displays.

FB International Inc., a New Jersey-based company specializing in trade show displays, is facing nearly $256,931 in fines, following a recent OHSA investigation conducted after a worker sustained an eye injury and another experienced a foot injury.

According to a release dated Dec. 26, the June 2023 inspection at the company's Oakland facility uncovered 32 serious violations. These violations include inadequately maintained walking-working surfaces, improper installation of guardrails and blocked exit routes. FB International Inc. was also cited for its failure to post exit signs, provide necessary training and PPE to workers, and ensure the safe use of electrical equipment.

Furthermore, OSHA found that FB International had not conducted a required workplace hazard assessment or established essential written communication and respiratory programs. The company also neglected to provide medical evaluations for employees using respirators and failed to maintain safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals used on-site.

“An OSHA inspection that finds this volume of safety and health violations across several work areas indicates a failed safety and health program,” OSHA Area Director Lisa Levy in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, said in a statement. “The inspection results should serve as a wake-up call for FB International Inc. to eliminate workplace hazards immediately and make effective safety and health programs a priority.”

FB International, which also operates a location in Las Vegas, serves clients both domestically and internationally. The company now has 15 business days to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA's area director, or contest the agency’s findings.
