OSHAs Nation Advisory Committee on OSH Meets December 12

The meeting will be available to attend in person as well as virtually.

OSHA has announced its National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) will next meet on Dec. 12, 2023.

According to a release dated Nov. 14, the meeting—which is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST—will include new member introductions, updates from OSHA and discussions on the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health's (NIOSH) Mental Health for Healthcare Workers Campaign. Other significant topics include the integration of safety as a core value in workplaces and the protection of whistleblowers.

Public participation is encouraged, with registration required for both online and in-person attendance. The meeting’s in-person capacity is limited to 25 members of the public. Interested parties are invited to submit comments and requests to speak via the Federal eRulemaking Portal, referencing Docket Number OSHA-2023-0003, by Nov. 27, 2023.

In a recent development, Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su reappointed two members to NACOSH. Cynthia Lewis, from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, will continue as the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) public representative, while Bobbi Jo Hurst of Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, will serve as the HHS's designated occupational health representative. Their terms are set to expire on Nov. 15, 2025.
