AIHce EXP 2023 Expo and Conference Kicks Off

The annual AIHA conference and exhibition opened the doors of its exhibit hall and sessions at the Phoenix Convention Center on Monday, offering a variety of vendors, education and attractions.

While this year’s edition of the AIHA’s annual conference, AIHce EXP 2023, kicked off on Saturday with professional development classes and other activities and events, today marked the first day the expo hall was open, and with it, a number of attractions and offerings.

Running through Wednesday, May 24 at the Phoenix Convention Center, the exhibit hall features more than 175 companies showcasing a wide variety of offerings across more than 30 categories ranging from biosafety to ventilation and everything in between.

The expo runs concurrent with conference sessions, professional development courses and other events, but with specific times carved out to let attendees have dedicated time to learn more about the products and services on the expo floor. Day one saw solid activity during the dedicated expo hours and especially during the show’s Expo Hall Networking Reception, in which attendees had a chance to grab a drink and a snack and engage with vendors and peers in a relaxed setting.

When it comes to education, AIHce EXP 2023’s conference sessions began after the Monday morning keynote address from Stanford University's adjunct professor in computer research Dr. Poppy Crum. Also serving as the Chief Technology Officer of NextSense, Crum discussed the human and consumer applications of advanced technology in relation to industrial hygiene and workplace safety.

The conference sessions run through Wednesday, May 24 and AIHce EXP 2023’s professional development courses wrap up on Thursday, May 25.

But given the event’s strong emphasis on education, there were even opportunities to learn on the show floor in booth 1227. For starters, the event’s Innovation Station offers 20 mini sessions from industry vendors right on the expo floor on both Monday and Tuesday. Topics ranged from lone worker safety to respiratory protection to smart apparel to connected safety programs.

Additionally, attendees could listen to AIHA experts at the AIHA Main Stage located at booth 427. On Monday, topics included IQ/IAmIH in schools, hazardous drug sampling guidance and interviewing skills and tips.

The final session on Monday at the AIHA Main Stage was the association’s Mark of Excellence Ceremony, which recognized volunteer work in several categories, including leadership, mentorship, research and advocacy. Recipients were acknowledged for their achievement within the IH/OEHS profession and their work in fostering and advancing IH/OEHS in workplaces and communities.

“The individuals and volunteer groups we will honor today are distinguished by their innovative spirits and dedication to the advancement of our profession,” AIHA CEO Lawrence Sloan said. “It is a great pleasure to honor them for their exceptional work, and we hope that their achievements will inspire the next generation of IH/OEHS professionals.”
