OSHA Recognizes CT Power Generation Facility with ‘Star’ Status Again

The location was first recognized for its work in employee health and safety in 2004.

A power generation facility in Connecticut is continuing its history of recognition under OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).

According to a news release, Millstone Power Station, located in Waterford, Connecticut, which has nearly 1,200 workers, was renamed a “star” site under the VPP after a July 2022 evaluation. The company, which Dominion Energy owns and operates, was first recognized in 2004.

“The Millstone Power Station continues to maintain a high level of workplace safety and health,” said OSHA Regional Administrator Galen Blanton in Boston in the news release. “Management uses data and metrics to show employees and contractors how unsafe acts lead to more serious injuries. One outcome of this commitment to safety and health excellence is the site experiencing no serious injuries or illnesses during the past five years.”

The VPP recognizes companies that have excellent health and safety systems, according to its website. The highest recognition employers can earn is the “star” status.
