Distinguished Service to Safety Award Bestowed to Four Professionals at 2022 NSC Safety Congress
This is the top NSC award for safety professionals.

At the 2022 National Safety Council (NSC) Safety Congress & Expo, NSC recognized four people with the organization’s top award for safety professionals, the Distinguished Service to Safety Award (DSSA).
According to NSC’s website, the DSSA “recognizes exemplary efforts and success in improving safety and health at work, on the road, and in the home and community.”
Before receiving the award, the honorees had to be nominated and “reviewed by NSC Division Committees,” NSC said in a news release.
The four recognized safety professionals, per NSC, are the the Health, Safety & Environmental Leader at Cummins Inc. Pat Cunningham, Director of Safety at Master Builders’ Association of Western Pennsylvania, Robert McCall, Institute for Simulation and Training, University of Central Florida’s Psychology department Professor Peter Hancock and the retired Senior Director of First Aid and Emergency Preparedness at NSC Donna M. Siegfried.
“The prestigious Distinguished Service to Safety Awards have been part of NSC tradition for 80 years, honoring the unique, individual efforts made by those who value safety above all else,” said Lorraine Martin, NSC president and CEO in the news release. “Whether pioneering safety research or advancing best practices in the workplace, each honoree has helped make our world a safer place.”
