Rise in Trench-Related Fatalities Results in Increased Enforcement, Education

Fatalities from trench-related incidents are on the rise. OSHA is now calling on increased enforcement efforts to protect workers.

The construction industry is one of the most hazardous industries in which a person can work. The risks can vary from falls from height, struck-by and caught-in between incidents, electrocution and more.

According to a recent press release from the Occupation Safety and Health Administration there is an existing danger that has seen an alarming rise in fatalities in just the first six months of this year. Since January of this year, 22 workers have fallen victim to the deadly hazards present in trenching and excavation work, surpassing the 15 deaths in all of 2021.
