A Massachusetts-based Pfizer worksite has been designated a “star level” status once again.
According to a press release, OSHA renewed the status of the Pfizer worksite in Andover, Massachusetts, after an evaluation in October 2021. Since 2007, Pfizer Andover has been recognized for their work in health and safety.
The “star” status is under OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), the highest level of health and safety recognition. To be considered for the program, employers apply and must “undergo a rigorous onsite evaluation by a team of safety and health professionals,” per VPP’s website.
“The level of workplace safety and health maintained by Pfizer Andover over the years is a truly commendable achievement,” said OSHA Regional Administrator Galen Blanton in Boston in a press release. “The site’s management leadership and employee engagement to eliminate hazards and improve work activities at Pfizer Andover is exceptional. This includes participation in the site’s several safety and health committees and teams covering contractor, laboratory, electrical, hazardous energy control and fall safety.”
Per the release, this location “played a key role” in Pfizer’s response to COVID-19.
