Food Processor Honored for Safe Work at Multiple Locations
Smithfield Foods was recognized for environmental compliance and worker safety.

One company is being recognized at locations across the US for environmental compliance and worker safety by the North American Meat Institute (NAMI).
According to a press release, Smithfield Foods Inc., was given Environmental Recognition Awards for 51 locations and Worker Safety Awards for 33 locations.
Of the 51 locations, over 40 were awarded the highest tier of recognition. Of the 33 locations, 18 were given the highest award for worker safety. The complete list of all locations and awards is available here.
“Through our culture of continuous improvement, Smithfield has led industry efforts to ensure the health and safety of our workforce and to implement improvements across our value chain that safeguard the environment," said Stewart Leeth, chief sustainability officer for Smithfield Foods in a press release. "We’re delighted that NAMI has once again recognized dozens of our facilities for their good stewardship of our Smithfield Family members, planet and natural resources in the communities we operate in."
NAMI’s Environmental Recognition Awards are given to companies that have continuous environmental improvements. The Worker Safety Awards honor companies with high levels of safety performance.
