Cal-OSHA Issues Citations in Connection to the Death of a Construction Worker

The death of a California construction worker in June resulted in around $54,000 in fines for two construction companies.

Cal-OSHA cited two companies for their involvement in the June death of a construction worker who died after falling from the roof of SoFi Stadium, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Fabritec Structures and ZD Inspections were cited for “serious accident related” violations in early December. The companies received five citations between them, with penalties that add up to more than $54,000.

Fabric Structures’ citation has a suggested $22,500 penalty. The citation states that the company didn’t cover the opening it created, which resulted in the worker falling through it.

ZD Inspections received a similar citation with an $18,000 penalty, along with a citation for employees not wearing the proper fall protection equipment and a citation for fall hazards.
