OH&S SafetyPod: Hassle-Free Occupational Hearing Test Scheduling

Editor Sydny Shepard discusses hearing test scheduling in the age of COVID-19 with Kate Mosley, Product Manager of Occupational Hearing Testing at SHOEBOX.

The current pandemic has led many safety directors to analyze the way they ensure the safety of their employees, from addressing additional PPE needs, to adopting virtual training programs and now shifting the way they think about testing for hearing conservation programs.

Occupational hearing loss is one of the most common work-related illnesses in the United States. Each year, about 22 million U.S. workers are exposed to hazardous noise levels at work, which means that even in the midst of a global pandemic keeping up with hearing testing is a must, as hearing loss can lead to some pretty serious impacts an employee’s quality of life.

The annual scheduling of all participating employees in a Hearing Conservation Program can present significant challenges for many organizations, especially in today’s current COVID-19 climate. In this episode, Kate Mosely, Product Manager for Occupational Hearing Testing at SHOEBOX, will provide us with a vision for adopting a different approach.

Kate was a wonderful person to interview for this episode. Through deep product knowledge and market research, she is laying out a vision for occupational hearing testing that offers more flexibility, is easier to conduct, and is cost-effective to perform.
