Freebies and Discounts for Nurses During National Nurses Week
May 6 through May 12 marks National Nurses Week—and many are helping show appreciation to healthcare workers with free or discounted food, clothes and more.
Today kicks off National Nurse Week—a national recognition of healthcare workers between May 6 and May 12. Even though many restaurants and stores are showing their appreciation for nurses during the pandemic, many more are spreading more love and giving freebies and discounts.
The national recognition week comes not long after member of National Nurses United, the largest union of registered nurses in the U.S., protested in front of the White House on April 21 to call attention to the thousands of healthcare workers who have become infected with COVID-19 due of lack of PPE.
To show appreciation to first responders, restaurant and other stores are offering deals like free meals and free shoes to nurses provided they show ID—although many deals were in effect before National Nurses Week.
