3M PSD's 2019 Scholarships Awarded at AIHce

In the 33rd year for these scholarships, the 3M Personal Safety Division is giving $5,000 to three students who are pursuing graduate degrees in occupational health and safety/industrial hygiene.

The 3M Personal Safety Division is giving $5,000 to three students who are pursuing graduate degrees in occupational health and safety/industrial hygiene, and also sponsorships to attend this year's AIHce EXP conference and expo. It is the 33rd year of the program.

On May 20, the company hosted a reception honoring the three. They are:

  • Hannah Kaup, a first-year Ph.D. student at the University of Minnesota whose research has focused on exposures to chemotherapy drugs in health care settings. She has won several awards for her work on this topic and continues to conduct important research to find sustainable and effective solutions to the problem.
  • Elon Ullman, a first-year M.S. student in industrial hygiene at the University of Michigan. His academic interests include hearing loss prevention, occupational health, and social determinants of health behaviors.
  • Misha Griffis, who earned a B.S. degree in environmental health from Western Carolina University and is working on an M.S. degree in industrial hygiene at the University of Iowa. She hopes to eventually become a CIH.

There are seven educational sessions during the conference where a 3M person is the lead instructor or moderator, and the company delivered two of the May 20 Learning Pavilion presentations in the Minneapolis Convention Center expo hall: "Harnessing the Internet of Things to Enhance Worker Protection" and "FIRE! Oh Wait, It's Just IDLH."
