OSHA Cites Florida Roofing Contractor for Repeated Fall Hazard Exposure
The company has been cited four times in the past five years for similar violations.
OSHA has cited Turnkey Construction Planners Inc., a roofing contractor based in Melbourne, Fla., for repeatedly exposing workers to fall hazards. Turnkey Construction Planners faces a total of $199,184 in penalties.
OSHA began its inspection as part of its Regional Emphasis Program on falls in construction. Upon inspection, OSHA inspectors saw Turnkey employees working without using conventional fall protection at two different work sites in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The company has been cited four times in the past five years for similar violations, according to the agency.
"Repeatedly exposing employees to fall hazards that can lead to serious injuries or fatalities is inexcusable," OSHA Fort Lauderdale Office Director Condell Eastmond said. "Employers have an obligation to identify and eliminate known hazards that place their employees in harm's way."
Turnkey Construction has 15 business days from receiving its citations and proposed penalties to comply, request an informal conference with the OSHA area director, or contest the findings before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
