HOUSTON -- This year's National Safety Council Congress & Expo went by in a flash! We've rounded up some of the highlights from the show floor—you can catch up on everything you may have missed on our Live From NSC Social Zone at OHSonline.com/live.

Houston was slightly rainy during the Congress & Expo, but luckily there was plenty of activity and education to keep us busy indoors. There were more than 1,100 exhibitors on the show floor, showing off their latest and greatest for safety and health. Here are just a few of the exciting moments we captured in the exhibit hall during the show.

Little Giant Ladder invited attendees to pay their last respects to Tad, the Traditional Stepladder, who lay in a coffin with an In Memoriam video showing off all our fondest memories of the Traditional Stepladder. (Why the name Tad? He's a "Tad" shaky, a "Tad" prone to accidents.) Tad has been rendered obsolete by Little Giant's latest innovation, the 3-in-1, versatile and lightweight King Kombo ladder.

Walking past MCR Safety's booth, you may have seen someone covering his hand in orange goo and hammering his fingers—no need to worry, as MCR Safety was simply showing off their hand protection. They've partnered with D3O on their crush and impact protection, and the bright orange material is the D3O material in its "uncooked" form.

D3O participated in a Learning Lab session on the in-progress hand protection standard ANSI/ISEA 138, in which they described the testing method for cut and impact resistance in gloves. The testing of gloves for back-of-hand, finger, and knuckle impact protection against the emerging standard was on display in their booth.

Columbia Southern University had cause to celebrate at NSC. The university continued to mark its 25th year in safety education, and during the show it received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Institute of Safety and Health Management in recognition of its work in EHS management, education, and careers. In addition, CSU's CEO Robert Mayes and President Ken Styron met with NSC President and CEO Deborah A.P. Hersman to commemorate the new education/learning partnership between CSU and the NSC.

The bright colors at Insta-Mold Products Inc. and HauteWork's booths caught our eye, as well, while we were walking around. Insta-Mold was creating custom-molded ear plugs for attendees right there on the show floor, and their plugs came in a variety of colors. HauteWork had a hot pink hard hat on display, and their fire-resistant clothing for women came in several fun colors and patterns, showing that you can be safe and stylish at the same time.

Tingley debuted a whole new booth experience at this show, with space for several new products in addition to their already robust line of offerings. It was even segmented by industry for ease of browsing! They've added four new t-shirts to their line of ANSI 107-compliant apparel and also added a puncture-resistant boot to their Pilot line.
