OSHA to Delay Compliance Date for Electronic Recordkeeping
The administration proposed to delay the date of the Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses rule.
OSHA announced a proposed delay of the electronic reporting compliance date of the rule titled Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses. The proposal would push the compliance date back from July 1, 2017, to Dec. 1, 2017, in order to allow OSHA an opportunity to review and consider the rule issued by the prior presidential administration.
The final rule was originally published on May 12, 2016, and the agency says a further delay will allow for questions into law and policy. It also provides employers with a window for submitting data that the original rule would have provided.
OSHA has asked for public comment on the proposed extension.
