Views from the Floor of Safety 2016 Day 1
ASSE’s Safety 2016 kicked off on June 26, 2016, in Atlanta, Georgia with a brief yet exciting exhibiting period. A mixture of safety show regulars as well as newcomers to the industry indicate this year’s show will be a good one at the Georgia World Congress Center. If you'd like to experience ASSE as it happens, check out our Live from ASSE page that includes live updates from the show floor.
The first stop on my tour of the floor was Columbia Southern University, where the university is offering two full tuition scholarships to be awarded this year. The scholarships cover the full cost of a degree in one program, and textbooks are even included through the CSU loan-a-book program. Those interested simply have to apply online at columbiasouthern.edu/scholarships.
Next I stopped by the MCR Safety booth, where they were demoing a number of cool products, such as grip-testing different manufactured gloves with oil, as well as showcasing the difference between regular lenses and fog-resistant lenses when moisture is in the air. I’ll be stopping by throughout the show to get demonstrations for myself.
A brief stop at Carbon X featured demos of live fire—something that is sure to draw the eye of attendees—while newcomers EZ Dump Commercial showed off an innovative trash can that subverts expectations of a traditional trash can. The can they have developed allows you to lift the body up while keeping the base on the ground, allowing you to easily remove the bag without having to struggle to fit it back through the opening.
These exhibitors are just a small sample of what is to come on days 2 and 3, and I’m ready to what everyone else has to offer.
